How Big Is Corbin?

Tomorrow is my grandson Corbin's Birthday Party!  He turned 1 yesterday.  I know...April Fool's Day.  It was his father's idea to schedule his birth on the first of April...poor baby!

Any who, I decided to do a growth board for him so that he can see how big he is as he is growing up.  This is probably more for his mom but then at one years old what presents do they really like.  I do like how it turned out.  Hope he will appreciate it some day.

I also need to get his Cookie Monster birthday cake made but that is a tomorrow morning's project....wish me luck!

Sleep...Where Is Thy Peace?

I've been awake since 2am.  Aaargh!  I hate it when I wake up in the middle of the night and my mind starts racing.  To bad there isn't an on/off switch for the brain.  I tried to go back to sleep.  Counted 1-100 backwards all the way to 10 and realized that wasn't working...probably because I had to think too hard of what number came next.  Hummed my favorite hymn in my head...no good.  Even got up and said prayers to see if that wouldn't help, but it didn't.
3am - Decided to get up and do something more productive than just letting my mind race...to bad you can't burn calories that way!  I got up and worked on Nicole's scrapbook and my calendar.  See the results  aren't half bad.  Would rather have been sleeping though.

5am - Went downstairs and looked at email, blogs and what not.
6am - I have a headache from sleep deprivation.  Not sure it's worth going back to bed for an hour though .  I have to get Nicole up at seven.  Maybe a nap will have to be the order of the day today!

Luck of the Irish

I didn't have any St. Patrick's Day decorations and was a little bummed about it.  Then as I was looking at blogs online I found the cutest little blocks that said "Lucky" and I just knew I had to make them.  But why only make one set when I can make four and give them to my daughter and daughters-in-law.  So I bought an 8 foot 2x4 on Friday and got busy with it on Friday night.  It's nice to know that I always have help from my nine year old....she loves to paint!  I hesitated posting this yet because Cassie hasn't gotten her set yet, but oh well....Surprise!
I think they are super cute!!!

A Tisket A Tasket

One of the gals I visit teach had her birthday on Tuesday and I wanted to do something a little different for her.  So Tuesday night after work I went home and made this basket full of cookies.  I think she liked it.  I know I had fun doing it!

Let It Snow

I have to share with you my newest creation!  I must admit that I have been looking at a bunch of blogs that share craft ideas and I found this one that I just had to try.

It's my sign that says "Let it Snow" and I love it!  I had everything I needed but the wood and sandpaper which cost me just over $5 at the Home Depot.  So I went to the store after work and got my wood then came home tonight and cut my wood and painted it black.  While that was drying I cut out my saying out of vinyl letters on my Cricut.  Then I sanded the edges and placed on the saying.

I placed it on the upstairs balcony so you can see it when you come in the front door.  I like it so much that I may even make some more to give away as gifts.

Thanks for visiting and have a good day!

The Joy of Family

I LOVE being a grandma!  One time my brother was trying to give me a bad time because I'm a grandma by derogatorily calling me "grandma".  Little did he know that he was paying me the highest compliment!  It is so awesome spoiling the grandkids and not having to discipline them! We always say that what happens and grandma and grandpa's stays at grandma and grandpa's.

One time when Kayse was younger and spending the night, grandpa went down to get gas in the car and brought home strawberry milkshakes at ten o'clock at night....what a great late night snack.
Nicole has been having to do journal entries in school and one of her entries said "If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be and why?".  When she asked me what my answer would be I said I would love to live in St. John's BUT only if my whole family could be there because it would suck to be there if my family couldn't be.

I couldn't imagine not being around my kids and grandkids.  I would hate not getting to see my kids raise their kids.  Plus I would miss seeing my parents.  And for that reason I think we will stay in the same house we are in now until we die.  So the kids can continue to ask us to watch the kids....we love it!

Halloween 2009

So much has happened since I wrote last.  I guess my life has been spent on the run!.....so I again am going to back track to Halloween.  This year Nicole asked me to make her costume which I have not been able to do for the past couple of years because I was Ward Activity's Chairman which made October really hectic.  So, I was thrilled to be able to make her costume again.  Last year I was a fair maiden and so she decided that is what she wanted to be.  So we went to Joanne's and found a pattern and picked out fabric off the clearance table.  I had to adjust the pattern because the material she wanted there wasn't enough available.  As usual the dress was done just in time for the ward's Trunk or Treat and I must say it turned out pretty well.  She then wore it two more times; once for her class party where she won best costume then her soccer team went to the Real Salt Lake game and Trick or Treating there.  I'm glad she got more than one wear out of it and I will keep it for the grandkids to wear later if they want.
